New Coffee Shops That Prove There’s Never Been a Better Time For a Caffeine Fix in LA
Thanks to all you music lovers who came to support our bands and show us how to have a good time. We are grateful to the many talented local musicians who graced our little stage and brought the gift of music to our corner of Point Reyes Station. The coffee at Koreatown’s Memorylook is as excellent as its matcha lattes, giant matcha brulee, and tiramisu doughnuts. Memorylook is an ideal cafe to work from with indoor and outdoor seating, but gets incredibly busy, so plan accordingly.
Memorylook Coffee
Whether you're in need of an iced matcha to cool off from the LA heat or an ice cream shake to cure your craving for something sweet, Alchemist Coffee Project has you covered. There are actually two locations in LA, and they're fairly close to one another. One is located on Vermont Avenue, and the other is located at The Pearl on Wilshire Apartments. The specialty coffees are also a major hit, with the Liquid Gold matcha drink being a local favorite. The lavender syrup is herbal and sweet, and since it's served over ice, it's the perfect beverage for a warm summer day in LA. Habitat Coffee is located in Eagle Rock and specializes in far more than just coffee.
The Best Luxury Mother’s Day Gifts for Designer-Loving Moms
The modern coffee shop is situated right in the heart of Melrose Avenue in the Melrose Arts District, and you'll always find an array of locals and visitors popping in for a shot of espresso. Upon walking in, the first thing to greet guests is a wall of greenery that creates the outline of a sasquatch. The curved white booths are contemporary while still being inviting, and the shop can easily be used for working or hanging. Located on the Westside in the hip beach town of Venice, the original Menotti's Coffee Shop is a local gem that blends coffee with culture. However, the second Culver City location has become equally as popular, while the on-the-go sprinter van brings your favorite brew straight to you on wheels. Patrons are able to check where the van will be each week, but it can also be booked for parties and private events such as weddings or birthday celebrations.
Obet & Del's Coffee
Below is a quick round-up of cafes that have either recently opened, or are very close to pouring strong cups of coffee throughout Southern California. We’re so excited to welcome you to our beautiful new space, but we’ll never forget all the great memories we’ve made together at the previous location. Gorgeous sunny days and warm summer nights out on the garden patio.
Outstanding Coffee Bars in Los Angeles
Kodō Hotel is the brainchild of Boulevard Hospitality Group, which also owns the historic Japanese restaurant Yamashiro overlooking Hollywood, as well as such spots as Durango Cantina on Melrose and the three-level Cork & Batter in Inglewood. Boulevard recently launched Nice & Sweet, a new bakery and coffee shop in Hollywood, located at 7061 W. Whether you're in Los Feliz, Beverly Hills, or the Arts District in DTLA, Maru Coffee is not far. That said, all of the coffee is actually roasted at the DTLA location, and guests can always expect quality to remain a top priority.
Since then, after being featured on HBO's Insecure, the coffee shop is now backed by showrunner Issa Rae, who's helped Hilltop expand to Inglewood, Eagle Rock and Downtown. And Eagle Rock locations have plenty of tables and a few charging outlets apiece, while the Inglewood shop’s lofted couch seating is more conducive to casual morning or afternoon hangs. Endorffeine isn’t your cutesy, sun-dappled, Instagram-driven coffee shop—not that there isn’t a place for those, especially in L.A.
The white and yellow interior is modern yet aesthetic and warm, and to say the service is friendly would be an understatement. It is a cafe but also a community space that hosts special events. Staff serve incredible coffee beans sourced from around the globe and roast them at a site near the cafe.
There is also a modern appeal and style across each storefront, and there are always plenty of people working and gathering with their laptops throughout the entire week. The Highland Park and Studio City locations have more food menu items than the DTLA shop, but every kind of coffee lover and diner can find something to their liking. However, the secret menu at the Art's District location is a fun way to check out new and inventive coffees and beverages. The current secret menu item is hojicha green tea latte, which can be served either hot or cold. In regard to the food, Eightfold Coffee has everything from avocado toast to chia pudding with fresh fruit.
Don't be surprised if the baristas try to engage in conversation — that's sort of the brand. The butterfly latte is an Instagram favorite thanks to its vibrant coloring and use of blue butterfly pea flower. If you like sweeter coffees, there are plenty of great options on the menu. The zesty and slightly spicy "queen" avocado toast is also a great grab for breakfast.

This is Far East Plaza’s stripped-down espresso stop that fuels you with meticulously measured pulls from Drop Coffee Roasters and Sey Coffee beans, and offers a number of creative caffeinated options in a sleek, minimalist setting. That said, while trendy spots don't always serve the best food and drink, Alfred remains pretty consistent and hasn't lost sight of the importance of quality goods. The iced vanilla latte is one of the most popular drinks, but if you're looking for a bit of zen with your caffeine boost, order the iced lavender latte. Depending on which location you visit, Alfred also has breakfast items like bagels and cream cheese, breakfast sandwiches, yogurt and granola, and breakfast burritos.
Or check out its sister location, Woodcat Coffee, located farther down Sunset Boulevard in Echo Park. This grab-and-go coffee shop is a charming and quaint neighborhood spot that specializes in traditional espresso shots and concoctions. While most people order and take their goods on the go, there are a handful of tables inside where you can post up for an hour while you read a good book or catch up with a friend.
Directly across the street from Warner Music Group’s L.A. Offices, Kodō Hotel is tucked away on the second floor of a former Beaux Arts-style fire station that dates back to 1927. If you're looking to get a mindful boost, opt for the Chagaccino, which uses chaga mushrooms along with sweeteners and vanilla to create an espresso-based drink that will also help you focus. Grab a vegan donut or some overnight oats to pair with your coffee. WAFI Coffee is named after the West African Farmers Initiative, a collective of West African farmers who supply the beans for this roving bicycle coffee bar.
Find beer and wine by the can or bottle at the Pine Street location. This longtime cafe now has three locations throughout Southern California. Whether visiting 10 Speed in Santa Monica or Sawtelle, the coffee is strong and well made, while the space is a solid place to hang out for the day, especially the cozy Calabasas location.
South LA Cafe owners and South LA natives Joe and Celia Ward-Wallace opened in Exposition Park in 2019. The husband and wife team have announced a second location in the same space as the Kaiser Baldwin Hills-Crenshaw Medical Offices (3782 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard), opening in late October. The Crenshaw/Baldwin Hills arm will have a massive outdoor seating area for those seeking medical service, but will undoubtedly attract locals from the adjacent residential neighborhood. Our bar has been a favorite spot for locals and visitors to enjoy a beer or cocktail and some fantastic local bands. Even though there wasn’t much space for dancing, you guys found a way!
